Location: Norwich, Norfolk Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Hours: Day Shift – 37.5 hours per week Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join one of the East of England's leading and rapidly developing precision CNC machining companies.

Based in Norwich, we are a highly professional precision engineering business with a substantial and continually developing manufacturing facility, operating over 40 CNC machines and employing a skilled team of more than 40 people. Our capabilities cover a wide range of CNC turning and milling technologies, including multi-axis turning, mill-turn, twin-spindle and sliding-head lathes, alongside an extensive range of CNC milling machinery ranging from conventional vertical machining through to advanced 3, 4 and 5-axis machining.

We manufacture high-precision components for a diverse range of demanding industries, including:

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated CNC Turner who wants to become an important part of a forward-thinking and professional engineering team.

The Role

As a Skilled CNC Turner, you will be responsible for the programming, setting and operating of a range of advanced CNC turning machinery.

You will work on a variety of precision-engineered components, often to tight tolerances and exacting customer requirements. Due to the variety of machinery and work undertaken within the business, this role would suit someone who is adaptable, technically capable and enjoys working in a fast-paced precision engineering environment.

The successful candidate must be comfortable working within a multi-manning culture, where flexibility, communication and teamwork are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Programming, setting and operating CNC turning machines
  • Producing high-quality precision components to customer drawings and specifications
  • Working with multi-axis CNC lathes and mill-turn technology
  • Programming and operating machines with live tooling and sub-spindles
  • Carrying out first-off and in-process inspection
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Selecting and managing appropriate cutting tools and machining strategies
  • Maintaining high standards of quality and housekeeping
  • Working effectively as part of a busy and professional production team
  • Supporting colleagues and contributing positively to a flexible multi-manning manufacturing environment
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, machining methods and efficiency

Essential Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Proven CNC turning experience
  • Experience programming CNC lathes
  • Experience using ISO/Fanuc control systems
  • Experience with multi-axis CNC turning
  • Experience with mill-turn technology
  • Experience working with sub-spindles
  • Experience with live tooling
  • The ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
  • A strong understanding of precision machining and tight tolerances
  • A quality-focused approach to work
  • The ability to work independently when required
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • A reliable and punctual approach
  • The flexibility and adaptability to work within a multi-manning culture

  • Sliding-head CNC turning experience
  • AS9100 experience
  • Edgecam programming experience
