Role Overview
As a Band 6 Developmental Specialist Palliative Care Nurse, you will provide compassionate, patient-centred care across hospital settings, supporting patients and families with complex palliative care needs, symptom management, end-of-life care, and holistic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Working within our specialist palliative care team, you will develop your clinical expertise while contributing to the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care.
- Work closely with our multidisciplinary team, including social workers, psychologists, complementary therapy practitioners, and discharge case managers.
- Develop your skills in advanced clinical assessment, complex symptom management, communication, care planning, and supporting complex discharges and community care.
- With appropriate supervision and support, develop increasing confidence and autonomy in clinical decision-making and in providing advice to patients, families, and colleagues.
Role Requirements
- Registered nurse with experience in palliative care, whether gained in hospice, community, or acute settings.
- Passionate about developing their specialist knowledge and skills.
- A postgraduate qualification in palliative care, or a willingness to work towards one, would be desirable.
- Compassionate, resilient, reflective, and committed to learning, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
