Role Overview

The adult Haematology service at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (ICHT) is home to one of London's largest JACIE-accredited Stem Cell Transplant (SCT) programmes, performing approximately 170 procedures annually. The portfolio of the transplant unit has further expanded to include CAR-T therapy and other innovative cellular/gene treatments.

We are currently reshaping our SCT & Cellular Therapy coordinating team and are now seeking to recruit a Band 8a CNS Team Lead/Coordinator role to provide additional leadership and strategic direction to the transplant service. This offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced haematology nurse with relevant SCT and leadership experience to join this evolving clinical service.

Responsibilities

As Team Lead, you will play a key role in shaping future models of care, ensuring services continue to meet and keep pace with the needs of patients receiving SCT, CAR-T and emerging cellular therapies.

  • Act as CNS team lead for the specialist nursing team, and wider transplant coordinator team, providing expert knowledge resource and strategic leadership.
  • The post holder will work in close collaboration with the wider Stem Cell Transplant (SCT) specialist teams including SCT Programme Director, Medical SCT coordinators, CNS and Transplant Management teams, supporting the coordination of transplant related treatment pathways across inpatient and ambulatory care settings.
  • To oversee the delivery of specialist nursing service for SCT, other cellular therapy recipients and related donors.
  • Fulfil the role of clinical nurse specialist (CNS) working as a registered nurse with relevant experience and post-registration education for working at enhanced level.
  • Work as part of a wider MDT model, leading the CNS team to ensure there is a responsive approach to the rapidly evolving requirements of SCT, cellular therapies and gene-editing requirements.
  • Manage a defined patient caseload, acting as a key worker and patient advocate, in line with the NHS plan and to actively apply in depth knowledge of holistic/socio economic and cultural aspects of the care to clients within your specific speciality, acting as a role model and resource for patients, relatives and staff.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
