Co-founder, kip.
Location: London or Manchester
Compensation: Flexible to start, equity-based, path to full time
Overview
This isn't a hire. It's a business partnership.
I'm looking for someone to own kip with me: equity, a real say in the direction, and their name on what we build. Everything below is written with that in mind.
The Short Version
kip is building the digital wellness brand people actually want to be part of. We have a product that is out in the world, a brand with a clear point of view and 49 venues live across the UK, all built on limited funds with zero paid marketing.
The next chapter is growth. I'm looking for a co-founder who has scaled a consumer product before, to own that chapter with me for the long term.
About kip
We have a relationship with sleep, food and exercise. We broadly know what good looks like for each. Then a phone landed in our hands twenty years ago and nobody ever taught us how to use it. Phone use, we believe, is the missing pillar of wellness, and kip exists to fill that gap.
kip is a smart tag paired with an app on iOS and Android. Tap the tag and your distracting apps go silent. You choose what goes quiet, and your phone stays near and useful for everything else. The tap becomes the cue, the same way lacing up your running shoes tells your brain it's time to run.
kip isn't here to take anyone's phone away. It's here to give people their time back, and to help them spend more of it with the people and moments that matter.
We sell two ways:
- Direct to consumer through kip.life.
- Into venues where the in-real-life experience should come first: gyms, co-working spaces, hotels, members' clubs and offices. We're live in 49 venues across the UK, including a national gym rollout, with more signed and waiting to launch.
Everything kip has achieved so far has been built by one founder with zero paid marketing. We've done a brilliant job on limited funds, and now there's a real opportunity to grow kip meaningfully. That's exactly why I'm looking for a co-founder.
Where we're heading: think of kip as the strava, oura or whoop of digital wellness. Next on the roadmap is AI coaching that helps people build a healthier, long-term relationship with their phone, and in time, using our venue partners to connect people back to real-world experiences.
Why Now
The cultural shift is already happening. Phone-free events are one of the fastest-growing movements in the UK, with attendance up 1,441% according to Eventbrite's Offline by Design report.
The wellness world is pouring billions into longevity and living well for longer, while the phone, the thing most of us touch hundreds of times a day, goes largely unnoticed. kip wants to own that space. Somebody needs to make it famous.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
The Role
You'll join me (Shaun, founder and CEO) as co-founder, owning how kip grows. I bring 22 years of senior leadership in boutique fitness and wellness, the brand, the product and the venue relationships. You bring the experience of scaling a consumer product: the channels, the distribution, the data and the commercial instinct that turn a brand people like into a business that grows every month.
The brand is built and it's staying. What it needs is someone who believes in it and knows how to put real fuel behind it. Beyond growth, you'll work with me across the whole business: strategy, priorities, investor conversations and the hard calls.
Be clear-eyed about the stage, though. We're still in the trenches. There's no team to hand things to and no budget to hide behind, so this is as hands-on as it is strategic. You'll be excited by where kip is right now, passionate about where it's going, and bring your own ideas and ways of getting things done.
What You'll Do
- Own the growth engine. Work out where kip's customers really come from, then build and scale the channels that bring them in: paid, organic, creators, partnerships, retail and marketplaces.
- Drive consumer sales. Turn attention into tag sales through conversion, offers, launches and retention, and know exactly which of them moved the numbers.
- Widen distribution. Get kip into new channels and new markets, well beyond the UK.
- Help scale B2B. My relationships open the doors. Help build the process, data and people that let us grow beyond my network.
- Run on evidence. Own the measurement, forecasting and unit economics, so every decision is made on what's actually working.
- Build the team. Shape the growth plan, budget and future hires as kip grows.
- With me turn kip into the most well loved, most used and most recognised digital wellness brand globally.
Who You Are
- You've scaled a consumer product. Senior experience growing a consumer brand, physical, digital or both, ideally one you took from its early days to real scale. Wellness, fitness, health, tech or lifestyle would be ideal.
- You're commercial to your core. You think in acquisition cost, conversion, retention and margin, and you know the difference between a nice idea and one that moves the numbers.
- You know the channels. You've seen what works, what doesn't and what's coming next, and you have the results to show for it.
- You build systems. You turn something that worked once into something that works every week.
- You respect a brand. You don't need to own the creative, but you know how to grow a brand without diluting it.
- You're based in London or Manchester, with London preferred.

The Person Matters as Much as the CV
Experience will get you in the conversation. The right fit is what makes this work.
- We have complimenting strengths. You're strong in the areas where I'm not. I don't need a version of me. I need someone who sees what I don't and fills the gaps I can't.
- We trust each other. Co-founders go through the highs and the hard weeks together. I'm looking for someone I can be completely honest with, and who will be completely honest with me.
- We genuinely get on. We'll be spending a lot of time together, so it matters that we enjoy it.
- You want to have some fun with this. Building kip should feel exciting. Bring the ideas and the sense of humour.
- You want to build something meaningful, and be part of the whole ride.
- You're happy rolling your sleeves up. You're as comfortable doing the work yourself as you are setting the strategy, and you don't need a team underneath you to make things happen.
- You're in it for the long term. This is a commitment to each other and to kip, measured in years.
How It Works
I want to be upfront about the structure.
- Equity-based to start. This begins as equity only, with a meaningful co-founder stake that we'll agree together.
- Flexible to start. You might be in a full-time role, consulting or working fractionally. That's fine. We'll shape the time together around what you can genuinely give now, and what that could become.
- Real focus, every week. Whatever the time looks like, kip needs your committed focus. If it would be the thing you get to once everything else is done, it won't work for either of us.
- A clear path to full time. As kip grows and raises, the role moves to full time, with a salary alongside your equity.
How to Get in Touch
Send a short note to hello@kip.life with:
- A little about you, plus your CV or LinkedIn.
- A consumer product you've helped scale, and what it achieved.
- Why you want to build something, and why kip.
- The first thing you'd do with kip, and where you think our next 10,000 customers come from.
- The time you could give kip now, and how that might grow.
No formal cover letter needed. I'd much rather hear how you think.
Finding the right co-founder takes time, so expect a few conversations rather than a single interview. Coffee, ideas, maybe a small project together. We should both be sure.
“It took my CV and asked me questions relevant to understanding what kind of jobs to suggest for me. Suggestions were almost perfect. Jobs were exactly what I’ve been looking for.”
