Co-Treasurer Opportunity for CILIP ARLG
Are you interested in developing your financial skills and supporting the library, information, and knowledge profession? CILIP Special Interest Group ARLG (Academic and Research Libraries Group) is seeking a Co-Treasurer to join the committee and help ensure the effective management of our finances.

Purpose of the Role
To oversee and manage the financial affairs of the committee, ensuring transparency, accuracy and compliance with CILIP’s financial policies.
What You’ll Do
As Treasurer / Co-Treasurer, you will:
- Maintain accurate financial records and manage payments for activities, events and sponsorships
- Prepare and present financial updates to the committee
- Deliver an annual financial report at the AGM and complete required reporting templates
- Liaise with CILIP’s Finance Team and relevant banking/investment partners (e.g. Unity Trust Bank, CCLA)
- Support budgeting and financial planning for activities and events
- Advise the Chair and committee on financial implications of decisions
- Ensure compliance with CILIP’s Treasurer Guidelines and Expenses Policy
- Attend committee meetings and contribute to wider discussions and decisions

Who We’re Looking For
You don’t need prior treasurer experience. We welcome volunteers at all career stages who are:
- Organised and detail-focused
- Comfortable handling financial information
- Collaborative and reliable
- Interested in developing financial and governance skills
Eligibility:
- You must be a current CILIP member
- You should have recent experience working in a library, information service or related sector
Time Commitment
Typically, a few hours per month, with some additional time at key reporting periods or around major events. 4 committee meetings per year. Term length is typically 2–3 years.
