PUMA Project Overview
Mitsubishi Chemicals UK are to build a new production plant adjacent to their existing plant on Saltend Chemicals Park in Hull, named the PUMA project.
Role: Coating Inspector
The Coating Inspector is responsible for ensuring the quality, safety, and integrity of piping and structures painted on the PUMA construction project. The inspector will perform regular inspections, assessments, and tests on coating systems to ensure they meet industry standards, regulations, and customer specifications. This position requires attention to detail, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute coating inspections in line with quality control plans, procedures, British standards, and client specifications.
- Verify compliance with standards, specifications, and approved procedures.
- Issue and manage quality records, reporting non-conformance where required.
- Oversee material storage, certification, and calibration of instrumentation.
- Witness and approve coating process qualifications.
- Inspect surface preparation and monitor environmental conditions before painting.
- Perform thickness checks for wet and dry films and ensure correct coating cycles.
- Perform overall visual inspections ensuring the surface is defect-free.

Location
You will be site-based in the PUMA project offices.
