Role Description

The Code Sensei will provide engaging, accessible coding and digital skills sessions to students, supporting their understanding of programming concepts and problem-solving techniques. This part-time, on-site role in Enfield involves planning and delivering lessons, supervising coding clubs or enrichment activities, and offering guidance on individual and group projects. The Code Sensei will collaborate with teaching staff to align activities with curriculum goals, promote safe and responsible use of technology, and encourage inclusive participation from learners of all backgrounds and ability levels. The role also includes providing feedback on student progress and contributing ideas to further develop the school’s digital learning offer.

  • Coding and programming skills (e.g., basic proficiency in one or more languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Scratch) suitable for teaching school-age learners.
  • Foundational knowledge of computer science principles, including algorithms, debugging, and logical thinking.
  • Experience working with young people in an educational, mentoring, or club-based setting, with a focus on encouragement and positive behavior.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in clear, age-appropriate language.
  • Organizational skills for planning sessions, preparing resources, and managing small groups effectively.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and inclusive practice, ensuring all students can participate and progress.
  • Relevant training or qualifications in computing, STEM, education, or a related field are desirable.
  • Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and collaborate with colleagues to enhance the coding curriculum.
