Coffee Manager

Reporting to the Store Manager, the Coffee Manager at the Carhartt WIP Coffee Shop Kings Cross is the heartbeat of the space - setting the standard for both exceptional coffee and genuine customer connection. In this role, you’ll lead and inspire a passionate barista team, champion outstanding coffee quality, and create an environment where people feel welcomed, energised, and part of the wider Carhartt WIP community.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has a deep appreciation for high-quality coffee, and is passionate about building a space where people come together.

Your Responsibilities

  • Champion specialty coffee excellence, ensuring every drink served meets the highest quality standards.
  • Create a welcoming atmosphere where customers feel part of the Carhartt WIP community.
  • Engage with customers, building relationships that turn first-time visitors into regulars.
  • Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing barista team who share a passion for coffee and hospitality.
  • Oversee daily operations including opening, closing, and smooth service flow during busy periods.
  • Manage rotas aligned with customer footfall and business needs.
  • Ensure stock levels, ordering, and waste management are effectively controlled.
  • Ensure the coffee shop environment reflects the Carhartt WIP aesthetic and brand values.
  • Support in-store activations, community events, and collaborations that bring the space to life.
  • Take ownership of sales performance and operational KPIs.
  • Handle customer feedback and resolve issues professionally and proactively.
  • Ensure all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards are consistently met.
  • Maintain coffee equipment and ensure the bar area is always clean, organised and operating efficiently.
