Job Opportunity: Cognitive Search Engineer
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Cognitive Search Engineer based in the United Kingdom.
This role offers the opportunity to design and develop advanced search solutions powered by artificial intelligence, natural language processing, and machine learning.
- You will contribute to creating intelligent search experiences that help users access information more efficiently and effectively.
Working in a fully remote international environment, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to build scalable and innovative search applications.
The position combines technical expertise, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills to improve search relevance, ranking, and user experience.
- You will work with modern cloud technologies, data pipelines, and cognitive search platforms to deliver impactful solutions.

Accountabilities
- Design, develop, and implement cognitive search solutions using natural language processing and machine learning techniques.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, data scientists, and software engineers, to create search applications and intelligent bots that improve user experiences.
- Analyze search performance, identify improvement opportunities, and optimize relevance, ranking, and retrieval quality.
- Understand complex data structures and relationships to integrate cognitive search solutions with existing systems, processes, and applications.
- Build, enhance, and maintain data pipelines supporting search indexing, retrieval, and information discovery.
- Apply best practices for cognitive search development, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Monitor evolving trends and innovations in cognitive search, machine learning, and AI technologies to continuously improve solutions.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable, reliable, and efficient AI-powered search architectures.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field.
- 2+ years of experience developing and implementing cognitive search solutions or related AI-driven technologies.
- Strong knowledge of natural language processing, machine learning concepts, semantic search, embeddings, and vector databases.
- Experience working with search platforms, preferably Azure Cognitive Search or similar technologies.
- Strong programming skills in Python and JavaScript, with the ability to develop and maintain technical solutions.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure or equivalent environments.
- Solid understanding of data processing, search indexing, and information retrieval techniques.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a structured approach to technical challenges.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with international and multidisciplinary teams.
- Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Candidates must be based in Europe and have the right to work, as no work permit sponsorship is provided.
