The Role
Purpose of the role
As our L&D Specialist, you'll own learning and development projects from end to end. You'll partner closely with stakeholders to understand what they actually need (not just what they first ask for), design learning experiences built around how people really learn, pilot solutions, and continuously refine them based on feedback and results.
Alongside project work, you'll help keep our learning management system (Thrive) running smoothly, supporting users, managing learning content and using data to understand what's working and where we can improve. You'll also be comfortable using AI as part of your day-to-day work, exploring how it can help us design, develop and deliver high-quality learning faster and smarter without compromising quality.
As you develop in the role, you'll have opportunities to facilitate learning sessions and contribute to a wide variety of L&D initiatives across the business. We're a small team with plenty of exciting projects, so you'll gain broad experience, take on increasing responsibility and have lots of opportunities to learn and grow.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Team
You'll report directly to the L&D Lead as part of a small, hands-on and collaborative L&D team. You'll receive plenty of support as you get up to speed, while being trusted with real ownership from the start. We value people who take initiative, are comfortable navigating ambiguity and enjoy challenging ideas to find better solutions.
Like everyone at Laminar, you'll have your own Individual Development Plan, designed to support both your personal and professional growth. Working with your manager and a wider development team, you'll set meaningful goals, build new skills and continue developing throughout your career. It's a core part of how we invest in our people, and something you'll experience yourself, not just help deliver for others.
Your top three objectives
- Design and deliver impactful learning solutions that build capability and help all Lamineers to flourish
- Build trusted partnerships with stakeholders to identify learning needs and create the right solutions
- Commit to continuous improvement by embracing new ways of working, growing your own capability and contributing to the development of others
Your Top Five Responsibilities
- Partner and challenge: Work closely with stakeholders to explore growth opportunities. Ask thoughtful questions, challenge assumptions and help shape the right learning solution.
- Design, test and improve: Create engaging, discovery-led learning experiences. Pilot ideas before scaling, gather meaningful feedback and continuously refine solutions to maximise their impact.
- Support our learning ecosystem: Keep Thrive running smoothly by maintaining content, supporting users, monitoring learning data and reporting on what's working and where we can improve.
- Use AI with purpose: Embrace AI as part of your everyday workflow, identifying practical ways it can help us design, develop and deliver learning more efficiently, while applying critical thinking to ensure quality always comes first.
- Facilitate and contribute: Facilitate learning sessions, including our Laminar Way series, and contribute to a wide range of L&D initiatives, building your facilitation skills and broadening your impact over time.
Your Capabilities
You'll thrive in this role if you're curious about how people learn and enjoy designing learning solutions that make a real difference. You're comfortable taking ownership, asking thoughtful questions and navigating ambiguity to find the best way forward. You enjoy variety and working across different parts of the L&D cycle.
As a candidate, you should have:
Must-Have (The fundamentals)
- Mastery: 2-4 years' experience in L&D, training design, facilitation, coaching, people development or consultancy. Understands what makes learning effective, from uncovering the real need to designing experiences that people can apply in their work. Curious about learning technology (no experience with Thrive or Rise 360 needed) and excited by the potential of AI to design and deliver learning more effectively, with the judgement to know when it adds value. A degree in Behavioural Science, Organisational Psychology, Educational Psychology, L&D or a related field is a bonus, not a requirement.
- Communication: Builds relationships easily and asks good questions to get to the real need behind a request. Communicates clearly, listens well, and adapts to the audience. Shares a point of view while staying open to feedback.
- Leadership: Takes initiative rather than waiting to be asked. Comfortable working through ambiguity, makes decisions within their remit, knows when to escalate, and is keen to grow in confidence and capability over time.
- Impact: An experience in taking ownership of projects and improving processes, and a genuine interest in growth. Like everyone at Laminar, you’ll have your own Individual Development Plan, and we’re looking for someone who is excited to use it to continue growing.
