Our client, a growing hedge fund, is looking to add a Margin & Collateral Specialist to its London team. This is a broad role sitting across collateral management, margin analytics, and treasury, with exposure to a complex, cross-asset investment portfolio.

The successful candidate will combine a strong understanding of the day-to-day margin and collateral lifecycle with the ability to analyse margin requirements, understand their underlying drivers, and identify opportunities to improve collateral and funding efficiency.

This would suit someone with experience within a hedge fund, investment bank, or similarly sophisticated trading environment who wants to move beyond purely operational collateral management into a more analytical and optimisation-focused position.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee margin and collateral requirements across Prime Brokers, clearing brokers, and bilateral counterparties.
  • Analyse Initial Margin and Variation Margin requirements across OTC, cleared, and exchange-traded derivatives.
  • Develop and enhance margin forecasting and liquidity-planning capabilities, helping the business anticipate future collateral requirements.
  • Analyse the key portfolio and risk drivers behind margin requirements and investigate material changes or discrepancies.
  • Work closely with Treasury, Operations, Risk, Trading, and Technology to improve margin and collateral processes and analytics.
  • Support daily collateral processes where required, including margin calls, reconciliations, disputes, and collateral movements.
  • Help develop and automate internal margin, collateral, and reporting tools and reduce manual processes.
  • Contribute to broader Treasury and financing initiatives, including counterparty and portfolio optimisation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
