Role Overview
The Collections & Recoveries Analyst will support the design, optimisation, and monitoring of collections and recoveries strategies within a fast-growing digital personal loans business. The role focuses on improving repayment performance, minimising credit losses, and enhancing customer outcomes through data-driven strategies and effective operational support.
This is a hands-on role suited to an analytically strong individual comfortable working with performance data, digital customer journeys, and a fast-paced lending environment.
Key Responsibilities
Collections Strategy & Performance
- Support the development and optimisation of collections strategies across pre-arrears, early arrears, and late-stage delinquency
- Monitor key collections metrics across customer cohorts
- Conduct behavioural analysis to identify performance trends and areas for improvement
- Recommend strategy changes to improve collections efficiency and reduce credit losses, whilst considering customer outcomes

Arrears Management & Customer Treatment
- Analyse customer repayment behaviour to identify drivers of arrears and default
- Support the design of treatment strategies across all stages of the collections lifecycle
- Help optimise communication strategies to improve engagement and repayment outcomes
- Identify opportunities to improve customer journeys and self-service options within digital collections
Recoveries & Debt Sale Support
- Analyse performance of recoveries strategies, including internal collections and third-party agencies
- Support the assessment of debt sale strategies and outcomes where applicable
- Track recovery performance against expectations and identify areas for improvement
- Collaborate with external partners to monitor performance and ensure alignment with internal standards
Data Analysis & Monitoring
- Deliver regular MI and analysis on collections and recoveries performance
- Build and maintain reporting of arrears, recoveries, and portfolio-level outcomes
- Investigate performance anomalies and provide clear insights and recommendations
- Support ad hoc analysis to inform strategic and operational decision-making
Strategy Optimisation & Experimentation
- Support testing and optimisation of collections strategies using data-driven approaches
- Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of different treatments, channels, and segmentation strategies
- Identify opportunities to improve performance through automation and segmentation
- Contribute to a test-and-learn approach within collections
Regulatory & Compliance Support
- Ensure collections activities align with FCA requirements
- Monitor customer outcomes, including fair treatment of customers in financial difficulty
- Contribute to documentation and analysis for governance and regulatory reporting

Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with Operations, Compliance, and Product teams
- Provide clear reporting and insight on collections performance and key risks
- Support alignment between collections strategies and operational delivery
- Share recommendations to improve processes, systems, and customer outcomes
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools (SQL or similar desirable)
- Ability to interpret performance data and generate actionable insights
- Effective communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
- Attention to detail and structured approach to analysis
- Commercial awareness with understanding of risk-return trade-offs
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, digital environment
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Experience in collections, recoveries, credit risk, or related analytical role within financial services
- Understanding of collections processes across the credit lifecycle
- Experience analysing key collections metrics (e.g. arrears, roll rates, recoveries, losses)
- Familiarity with customer treatment strategies in arrears
Desirable
- Experience in a digital lender, fintech, or consumer lending environment
- Exposure to automated collections systems or digital communication strategies
- Understanding of FCA requirements relating to collections and customer treatment
- Experience working with third-party collections agencies or recoveries processes
- Experience using data to optimise collections performance
- Experience in a scaling or high-growth business
