The person appointed would be expected to:
Site Access and Entry Control
- Welcome students into College from the driveway, ensuring they are prepared for the College Day.
- Liaise with vehicles to manage drop-offs within the College grounds.
- Respectfully challenge anyone on site not displaying correct identification, escalating concerns as required to ensure only authorized persons are on site.
- Escort students and visitors to the appropriate location to obtain identification where required.
- Respectfully challenge anyone attempting to re-enter the site at the end of the College Day.
- Provide cover for the Security Desk at the Student Entrance when requested by the Estates Manager or Estates and Facilities Security Assistant.
Patrols and Site Security
- Carry out regular patrols of all areas of the College, including grounds and overflow parking.
- Challenge unsafe activities and practices encountered during patrols.
- Sweep buildings at the end of the day to ensure all students have left.
- Remove intruders and non-approved visitors from the site as required.
- Report all security concerns to the Estates Manager or Estates and Facilities Security Assistant.

Student Behaviour and Welfare Support
- Assist in monitoring student behaviour across the College site.
- Remove students from classrooms when required to support teaching and learning.
- Carry out searches of students as required, in line with College procedures and protocols.
- Provide first-line response to local off-site incidents reported to the College involving inappropriate student behaviour.
Emergency Response
- Act as a Fire Warden for the College.
- Act as part of the response team during lockdown situations.
- Act as an emergency keyholder, responding to out-of-hours call-outs as required.
Communication, CCTV and Record-Keeping
- Carry and use a radio to communicate with members of the Estates Team.
- Support the Estates and Facilities Security Assistant in facilitating requests to view CCTV footage, in line with College procedures.
- Develop and maintain accurate records of patrols, incidents, and activities.
Cover and Additional Duties
- Work with Estates colleagues to provide cover for opening and closing buildings during holidays or staff illness. (Note: where opening early, the full working day must still be completed.)
- Support all College Open Evenings and Guidance Interview Evenings, with duties split between car park management and patrols as directed.

Other
- Follow all College procedures and protocols at all times.
- To attend meetings and complete mandatory training in accordance with the College’s meeting/training schedule.
- To assist at the College’s Open Evenings / Consultation Evenings.
- Each member of the College will take reasonable care for the health and safety of himself/herself and persons who may be affected by his/her omissions at work.
- To undertake any other duties as may be assigned commensurate with the grade and overall responsibility level of the post and as changing circumstances may require.
Contract and Salary Information
Closing date: 12 noon on Tuesday 20th October 2026 – we reserve the right to close this vacancy before this date.
Start date: As soon as possible
Contract: Full time, 36 hours per week, term time only
Working hours: Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 4.30pm
Salary: Point 9 to 11, £26,818 to £28,634 per annum, (actual salary payable £21,557.55 to £23,017.33 pa) depending on experience
