Systems Integration & Assurance Lead
Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 + Benefits Package
Location: This is a flexible position offering remote working alongside an attractive salary and benefits package.
Security Clearance: Current SC Clearance required (or eligible to obtain)
About the Role
Are you a chartered Weapon Engineering or Combat Systems specialist looking for your next high-impact role in major surface ship programmes?
We are seeking a Mission Systems Integration & Assurance Lead to take ownership of technical assurance across integration, installation, testing, and acceptance phases for complex naval procurement projects. Serving as an authoritative technical voice, you will provide independent challenge, lead key working groups, and coordinate closely with Navy Command, the MoD, and Tier-1 industry partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Assurance: Lead assurance activities across Mission Systems integration, safety, and acceptance—including technical reviews of CDRLs, documentation, and safety artefacts.
- Topside & Safety Integration: Review Integrated Topside Design, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), SHIPHAZ, and safety assessments for critical surface ship capabilities.
- Trials & Acceptance: Support commissioning, acceptance, and Capability Insertion Period (CIP) activities. Lead Mission Systems Test & Trials Working Groups across client and industry stakeholders.
- Stakeholder Representation: Represent technical, commercial, and programme discussions at a senior level across MoD, DE&S, Navy Command, and industry partners.
- Risk Management: Identify complex capability, operability, and safety risks, delivering strategic recommendations and actionable mitigations.

Essential Requirements
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status (or demonstrably working towards it with equivalent experience).
- Significant experience within surface ship, naval combat systems, or weapon engineering programmes.
- Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of systems integration, safety assurance, trials, and acceptance within the UK defence ecosystem.
- Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to operate, brief, and provide independent technical challenge at a senior level.

Desirable Experience
- Former Royal Navy Weapon Engineering Officer (WEO) or equivalent military background.
- Broad technical knowledge of maritime weapons, tactical communication networks, and complex mission systems.
