Job Title: Combustion Systems Engineer

Department: Packing and Annealing

Location: Trostre

Salary: Competitive + Benefits

Closing Date: 4th September

Make a tangible impact:

To provide, maintain and develop engineering services for combustion systems in Area 1. Where combustion systems are defined as end-to-end systems from control and monitoring to the burner, including all electrical, electronic, mechanical and instrument systems.

  • Act as the combustion system expert for the manufacturing area assessing the capability of the process units and recommend ways to improve safety and maximise efficiency, whilst reducing baseline costs.
  • Manage combustion system improvement projects, including design, specification, installation and commissioning. Ensuring that all work conforms to the relevant Health and Safety standards and guidance.
  • Develop and manage combustion system management and reporting systems.
  • Advise on the application of appropriate standard operating, quality assurance and combustion system procedures to regulate the work of manufacturing areas.
  • Identify the combustion system training and development requirements for on-site personnel.
  • Provide the required professional technical input on the routine monitoring and control of processes by setting and ensuring that appropriate sampling and testing routines are carried out to meet the requirements of internal (QA, internal customer) and external customer/international standards.
  • Act as lead for maintenance and testing of SIL rated equipment.
  • Act as a focal point for requests for combustion system projects, guidance, information and problem solving.
  • Provide advice for site Safety, COMAH and Environmental activities.

We see your potential:

Ideally be educated to degree level in engineering combined with experience in the Steel and/or Tinplate industry at an appropriate level.

Have knowledge of gas, air, electrical & instrumentation systems and the ability to communicate this to personnel at all levels.

Understand how Process Safety and Functional Safety are applied to combustion systems.
