Secondary Janitor

Location: Calderside Academy, Calder Street, Blantyre, G72 0AX
Hours: 42.5 hours per week (includes 5 hours of let's cover per week)
Work Pattern:

  • Monday - Friday: 7:30am - 4pm
  • Let's cover: Monday - Friday 6pm - 9:30pm and Saturday 9am - 12:30pm (1 Saturday every 4 weeks)
    Salary: £32,153 - £32,862 annual salary
    This post is temporary until 24 December 2026.

We are looking to recruit a Secondary Janitor at Calderside Academy. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation of all documentation relating to the janitorial and cleaning function within the premises.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring unit grounds are kept in a safe and tidy order, free from dangerous articles ensuring Health and safety of staff and visitors.
  • Monitoring the activities of lessee’s and contractors, reporting any issues to the line manager.
  • Logging, monitoring, and reporting all damage/faults in relation to the fabric and fixtures.
  • Liaising with external contractors and lessee’s, ensuring all Health and Safety and security procedures are adhered to.
  • Effectively communicating with the Facilities Manager, Head of Establishment/Lessee’s, and Team Members to ensure the customer needs are met on a daily basis.

Requirements

  • Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made.
  • An Overseas Criminal Records Check is required where applicants born outside the UK (Scotland, England, Wales, and Northern Ireland) or who have lived or worked outside the UK for a continuous period of 12 months in the past 10 years.
