British Vogue is seeking a visionary Shopping Market Editor to craft unique and compelling shopping-focused content for Vogue Shopping. They will lead the fashion direction of the department, be passionate about setting the tone and identity across all major fashion tentpoles and running with multi-model content opportunities. The ideal candidate will be excited about shopping across every fashion category and possess a strong background in fashion market, styling and merchandising whilst being competent in writing.

The ideal candidate is confident in content execution with an ability to spot trends, pitch story ideas and provide compelling visuals to support via affiliate linked product and original shoot imagery aligned with the Vogue Shopping creative aesthetic in our in-house editorial studio.

As well as creating content, the ideal candidate enjoys analysing traffic and conversion results to help inform decision making. They will brainstorm new ways to engage our audience around shopping-driven stories on all our digital platforms, including social, newsletter, original content, and storefront. The candidate should have a strong editorial eye and taste level with a passion for curation and discovery. This role reports into British Vogue’s Shopping Director.

The successful candidate needs the instincts and editorial judgement of a Vogue editor with a strong understanding of digital commerce: someone who can drive a clear visual editorial point of view for product and shopping recommendations, spot what the Vogue reader will want next, and understand how exceptional editorial can translate into measurable revenue.

This is a rare opportunity to join one of the world’s most influential fashion titles and play an important role in the continued growth and evolution of the Vogue Shopping team at British Vogue.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Pitch and compile 3-4 fashion-focused pieces of content a week, (including new, evergreen, storefront, and additional content for contributors)
  • Brief, manage, and approve freelance market pulls, keeping expert curation, best practices, and partnership deliverables in mind, working with editorial teams to ensure that all content is on-brand
  • Assist in brand partnership execution
  • Keep the Vogue storefront up to date and best in class with product pulls and merchandising across category pages
  • Ability to concept, lead, and execute original shoots with Vogue visuals team, i.e. partnerships, editor-led shoots, and more from start to finish
  • Curate product and pull imagery when needed for Vogue Shopping Newsletter or any other Marketing channel
  • Identify new content opportunities that capture industry trends for articles, new franchises or social and video content
  • Regularly report on content performance across platforms, studying purchasing data, tracking site analytics, researching trends, and performing competitive analysis of comparable sites
  • Attend relevant appointments, retailer/partnership meetings, fashion calendar events, and more to stay up to date on new brands, trends, etc.

Essential Skills & Requirements

The ideal candidate must have fashion market & shopping experience at either an editorial platform or multi-brand retailer and a strong enthusiasm for helping define the content-to-commerce strategy at Vogue.

  • A minimum of 3 years fashion market or merchandising experience at either a multi-brand retailer or editorial platform
  • Experience with styling shoots, product call ins, and decision making on set
  • Ideal candidate will have their own relationships with fashion brands, PRs, as well as retailers
  • Experience analysing performance across different verticals, product categories, retailers and content types to optimise for revenue generation
  • Experience of conceptualising fashion franchises adapted across social
  • A finger to the pulse on what shopping content is exciting across both onsite and social: a strong sense of runway trends and seasonal fashion moments
  • Good knowledge of writing is desirable
  • Being comfortable appearing on camera highly desired, as well as UGC
  • Exceptional project management skills - must be able to consistently plan ahead while maintaining daily content production
  • Strong organisational skills, a self-directed work style, and polished communication skills that make collaborating easy across all editorial and creative departments
  • A self-starter who relishes the opportunity to directly accelerate the growth of Condé Nast commerce business
