The Role
As our Commerce & Retail Media Strategy Director, you will be responsible for strengthening brand and product discoverability across retail, marketplace and retail media environments, helping clients win where consumers search, browse, evaluate and purchase products.
This role is first and foremost a Commerce, Retail Media and Retail Search position. We are looking for practitioners with hands-on experience across retailer ecosystems, marketplaces, retail media networks, digital shelf optimisation and retailer search. Experience with AEO/GEO or AI-driven discovery is beneficial, but proven commerce and retailer search expertise is the primary requirement.
Core Responsibilities
- Identify commerce and retail environments most relevant to each category, including retailer.com, marketplaces, retail media networks and product detail page ecosystems.
- Evaluate how product content, taxonomy, ratings, reviews, availability, pricing and merchandising influence discoverability, conversion and retailer search performance.
- Develop retailer-specific strategies across retailer search, digital shelf and retail media environments to improve product visibility and conversion.
- Partner with commerce, retail media, shopper marketing, SEO and brand teams to recommend practical actions that improve discoverability and downstream commercial performance.
- Translate emerging AEO/GEO and AI-discovery trends into commerce actions, including PDP optimisation, structured product content, retailer search optimisation and marketplace activation.
- Identify where teams have direct control versus where retailer or partner coordination is required.
- Support activation planning across priority retailers, marketplaces and retail media platforms.
- Help connect retail search, AI visibility and discoverability learnings to commerce performance and retail media planning.
- Partner with retail media, ecommerce, category management and shopper marketing teams to drive execution across key retail partners and commerce channels.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
