Job title: Commercial Account Executive
Salary: £65,000 (DOE)
Location: York, Yorkshire
PURPOSE OF ROLE
An established and highly regarded independent insurance brokerage in Yorkshire is looking to recruit an experienced Account Executive to join their growing team in York. This is a relationship-led role with a genuine long-term career opportunity, suited to either an experienced Account Executive ready to take on an existing portfolio or an ambitious professional looking to take the next step.
The business has a strong reputation for delivering personal, professional advice across commercial, rural and private client lines. If you are looking for a role where relationships matter and where you can make a real difference to clients, this could be the opportunity for you.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and develop a portfolio of commercial and rural insurance clients as their primary point of contact
- Conduct regular client reviews and provide professional, tailored insurance advice
- Identify opportunities for cross-selling and introducing additional services
- Generate new business through networking, referrals and relationship development
- Follow up qualified leads generated by the wider business
- Work closely with insurers and underwriters to secure appropriate solutions for clients
- Maintain excellent retention levels across your portfolio
- Ensure all activities comply with FCA requirements and internal procedures

DAY-TO-DAY
- Managing renewals, mid-term adjustments and new business enquiries across your portfolio
- Attending client meetings and annual reviews to understand evolving business needs
- Liaising with underwriters and insurers to obtain quotations and negotiate terms
- Collaborating with an experienced broking and account handling support team
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records in line with compliance requirements
- Keeping abreast of market developments, product changes and regulatory updates
EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience in commercial insurance broking, account management or client-facing sales
- Background in rural or agricultural insurance is highly desirable
- Experience managing and growing a client portfolio with strong retention performance
- Track record of new business generation and lead conversion
- High Net Worth private client experience is advantageous
- Comfortable dealing with business owners, farm owners and high-value private clients

SKILLS
- Cert CII qualified, working towards qualification, or willing to study
- Full UK driving licence
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, personable, credible and professional
- Self-motivated and well organised with the ability to manage a varied workload independently
- Strong relationship-builder with the ability to earn client trust and deliver continuity of service
- Commercially minded with a consultative approach to client development
