Commercial Account Executive
Commercial Insurance | New Business | Established Commercial Broker
Location: Stockport
Salary: £50K - £70K + bonus
Want to make a name for yourself?
If you're a Commercial Account Executive who gets your biggest buzz from opening doors, winning new business and building relationships, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.
We're working with an established commercial insurance broker that is looking to appoint an ambitious New Business Account Executive to play a key role in the continued growth of its Stockport operation.
This isn't a role where you'll simply inherit a book and be asked to maintain it.
Working closely with the Managing Director, you'll have the opportunity to create your own opportunities, win your own clients and build a portfolio that you can genuinely call your own.
And crucially, your role doesn't stop once the client is won.
You'll take ownership of the relationships you develop, managing clients through their insurance journey, leading renewal and mid-term conversations and identifying opportunities to retain, nurture and grow your portfolio over the long term.
An established business with serious backing
The business has built a highly respected reputation over many years, with an established brand, loyal clients and strong relationships across the commercial insurance market.
It is also part of one of the UK's largest independent insurance broking groups, giving the business access to the scale, expertise, resources and market relationships of a much wider organisation.
For you, that means the best of both worlds.
You get the personal, entrepreneurial feel and autonomy of an established independent broker, where your contribution is visible and relationships really matter, alongside the support, infrastructure and wider capabilities of a large independent group.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The opportunity
This is a genuine new-business-led position, with your primary focus being the development and acquisition of new commercial clients.
You'll be expected to generate your own leads and build your own pipeline through prospecting, networking, referrals and your existing market relationships. You'll also benefit from leads generated by the wider group's telemarketing function.
The business specialises in mid-market and larger commercial insurance across a broad range of sectors, giving you plenty of scope to utilise your existing network and develop new relationships.
Once you've won the business, you'll remain responsible for the client relationship, working closely with an experienced Account Handling team to ensure a smooth onboarding process and excellent ongoing service.
You'll be responsible for:
- Proactively identifying and pursuing new commercial insurance opportunities.
- Generating your own leads and developing a strong, sustainable pipeline.

- Identifying opportunities to cross-sell, develop and grow your existing portfolio.
- Negotiating with insurers to secure appropriate and competitive terms.
- Working closely with the MD and wider group to maximise opportunities.
- Working towards agreed income and new-business targets.
- Maintaining accurate sales activity and pipeline reporting.
