Commercial Account Handler
Location: Essex/Hybrid
Salary: Up to £47K + Bonus
I’m currently working with a well-established specialist commercial insurance broker who are looking to add an experienced Commercial Account Handler to their growing operations team.
Trading for almost 30 years, the business is now part of a wider national broking group, giving them the backing, resources and opportunities of a larger organisation, while retaining the personal and close-knit feel of a specialist broker.
They’re also a purpose-driven business with a genuine commitment to their people and the local communities they support through charitable giving.
You’ll be joining a busy and growing team of around 18 people across Claims and Account Handling. It’s a sociable, supportive environment where you’ll take on a process-focused role, managing your own portfolio of commercial clients and playing an important part in delivering a high-quality service.
Your portfolio will be predominantly mid-market, covering a varied mix of specialist commercial risks, giving you plenty of exposure to different clients and insurance requirements.

Key responsibilities include:
- Managing your own portfolio of commercial clients and taking ownership of their day-to-day servicing
- Processing mid-term adjustments accurately and promptly, liaising with insurers and clients
- Handling renewals end to end, from gathering information and marketing risks to issuing terms and documentation
- Producing and checking invoices, working closely with the accounts team
- Onboarding new clients, including setting up records, completing compliance checks and issuing documentation
- Keeping systems up to date and ensuring all work meets FCA and internal compliance standards

What my client is looking for
- Proven experience as a Commercial Account Handler within a broker
- Strong all-round commercial product knowledge, such as motor fleet, property, liability, plant and goods in transit
- Experience handling mid-market accounts, ideally £20k–£50k premiums
- Experience within haulage, waste or construction-related risks would be a real advantage, but isn't essential
- A methodical, detail-focused approach with a high level of accuracy
- Confident communication with clients and insurers
- The ability to manage a busy workload and prioritise effectively
- Cert CII or working towards it (desirable, and study support is available)
