Criterion Capital is seeking a proactive and organised Commercial Administrator to join our growing Commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to establish a long-term career within property development and construction.

Working closely with our Commercial Manager and Quantity Surveyors, you will provide essential administrative and commercial support across a portfolio of residential, hospitality, and mixed-use developments. This role has been designed as a career development opportunity, providing the successful candidate with structured exposure to commercial management and quantity surveying, with a clear pathway to progress into an Assistant Quantity Surveyor position as experience and knowledge develop.

Please note: This is a full-time, self-employed (contractor) position, based primarily from our Central London office.

The Role

The Commercial Administrator will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Commercial department, ensuring project information is accurately maintained while assisting Quantity Surveyors with commercial processes across multiple live projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing administrative support to the Commercial Manager and Quantity Surveyors across multiple construction projects
  • Maintaining accurate commercial records, cost trackers, procurement schedules, and project documentation
  • Preparing purchase orders, subcontract documentation, and commercial correspondence
  • Assisting with the processing of subcontractor applications, invoices, and payment documentation
  • Supporting the preparation of valuations, cost reports, variations, and financial forecasts
  • Obtaining quotations from suppliers and subcontractors and preparing comparison schedules
  • Managing commercial document control to ensure all records are accurate and up to date
  • Coordinating meetings, preparing agendas, and recording meeting minutes where required
  • Liaising with site teams, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain commercial information
  • Supporting the administration of contracts, change control, and procurement activities
  • Producing reports and maintaining departmental trackers
  • Providing general administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the Commercial department

Career Progression

This role has been created for someone who is keen to build a career in Quantity Surveying. As your knowledge, experience, and commercial understanding develop, you will be given increasing responsibility and support with the aim of progressing into an Assistant Quantity Surveyor position within Criterion Capital.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Previous experience in a commercial administration, construction administration, or project administration role
  • Experience within construction, property development, or building services is advantageous but not essential
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
  • Excellent organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong numerical and analytical ability
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • A proactive attitude with a genuine interest in developing a career in Quantity Surveying and commercial management
  • A willingness to learn from experienced commercial professionals
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
