Role Description
The Commercial Administrator is a full-time, on-site role based in Chelmsford, providing administrative and commercial support across Houghton Group’s divisions. Responsibilities include:

- Preparing and maintaining project documentation
- Updating contract records
- Assisting with quotations, invoices, purchase orders, and financial tracking
- Coordinating information between internal teams and external stakeholders
- Responding to enquiries
- Supporting customer service to ensure smooth project delivery
- Helping maintain compliance with company procedures and accreditations
- Updating internal systems and databases
- Supporting the commercial and sales teams with reporting and data analysis

This position requires a proactive approach, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy office environment.
Qualifications
- Strong Communication skills, including clear written correspondence and professional verbal interaction with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Proven Administrative Assistance experience, with competence in documentation control, data entry, scheduling, and office systems.
- Customer Service skills, with the ability to handle enquiries, resolve issues, and represent the company in a courteous and professional manner.
- Basic Finance skills related to processing invoices, monitoring costs, and supporting commercial reporting.
- Awareness of Sales processes, with the ability to support quotation preparation, follow-up, and maintenance of CRM or similar systems.
- Proficiency in standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, email, spreadsheets) and comfort working with digital systems.
- Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize and manage competing deadlines.
- Experience in construction, electrical, or renewables sectors, or in a commercial/contracting environment, is an advantage.
- Ability to work collaboratively in an office-based team and maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Relevant vocational qualification or experience in administration, business, or a related field is beneficial.
