About Octopus Electroverse
We’re making electric vehicle public charging simple by building the giant, virtual charging platform of the future. In just five years, Octopus Electroverse has grown to become Europe’s largest eMSP public charging network, with over 1.4 million connected electric vehicle chargers globally across 79 countries.
Naturally, we’re now taking this success beyond individual consumer drivers and scaling our dedicated B2B proposition - Octopus Fleet - to help businesses transition to zero-emission transport with ease. From EV public charging cards to home charging reimbursement, we are building the ultimate all-in-one suite to simplify fleet electrification.
Electroverse and Octopus Fleet operate as a unified, cross-functional team across product, commercial, operations, marketing, and partnerships - all sharing a passion for shifting the industry toward EVs. As our commercial pipeline expands across high-value enterprise deals and complex formal tenders, we are looking for a sharp, structured, and analytical individual to build out and professionalise our bid engine.
Reporting into the Commercial Strategy Manager, your focus will be on transitioning our tender process from a decentralised team effort into a streamlined, high-winning commercial capability.
What you'll do
- Partner closely with Business Development Managers (BDMs) - who identify and bring tender opportunities into the pipeline - to project-manage responses from initial intake through to submission, holding cross-functional teams (BD, Product, Operations, Finance, Legal) accountable to strict deadlines.
- Work with commercial and data teams to analyse customer data, dissect complex bid requirements, and build transparent, data-backed commercial narratives that clearly articulate Octopus’s value proposition against legacy market alternatives.
- Build, curate, and continually update an internal response repository containing verified, high-quality answers on our product capabilities, security compliance, SLAs, and commercial terms - turning repetitive bid tasks into a smooth, scalable workflow.
- Manage our evaluation matrix to triage incoming tender opportunities early, keeping our BD and commercial focus directed toward scalable, high-impact deals.
- Own the tender pipeline in our CRM, tracking submission timelines, win/loss metrics, and post-bid debriefs to continuously optimise our response quality.
What you'll need
- 2+ years of experience in bid analysis, commercial operations, proposal management, or analytical commercial strategy - ideally within B2B tech, fleet management, EV mobility, energy, or tech-enabled services.
- Strong attention to detail, exceptional written English, and a keen eye for "what good looks like" - you spot vague phrasing, formatting errors, and missed requirements instantly.
- A collaborative approach to working with BDMs, acting as a trusted co-pilot who respects their client relationships and focuses on maximising our win rate on high-value deals.
- Process-driven mindset with a love for bringing order to chaos; you get excited about building templates, libraries, and repeatable systems that eliminate friction for the broader team.
- Healthy skepticism around AI - you understand how to leverage modern tools for speed, but you never blindly trust generated text and always bring critical judgment and human verification to final submissions.
- Analytically and numerically confident, comfortable analysing customer data and commercial models to uncover subtle nuances and support commercial decision-making.
- Highly organised with strong project management rigour, able to calmly coordinate multiple stakeholders against tight external deadlines.
- Happy to operate autonomously in a fast-paced environment with minimal existing structure, taking full ownership to set up best-in-class processes.
- Not afraid to ask for help or brainstorm with others, but operates effectively as a self-starter who takes pride in continuous improvement.
- Truly values-led, passionate about decarbonisation and accelerating the transition to electric vehicles.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
