Commercial and Industry Expert (Expert Witness) - EU Medical Devices

Planet Pharma are currently partnered with a leading pharmacy group and we are actively seeking a Commercial and Industry Expert (Expert Witness) - EU Medical Devices to join the business on a freelance basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide independent commercial and industry expertise in support of an international arbitration matter within the European medical devices sector.
  • Analyse and interpret market conditions, commercial trends, and industry dynamics across relevant European healthcare markets.
  • Evaluate business, regulatory, and competitive factors affecting medical device commercialisation, licensing, and distribution strategies.
  • Review and assess relevant commercial agreements, including supply, licensing, and distribution arrangements, and provide expert insight on industry standards and practices.
  • Conduct market assessments using sector knowledge, commercial data, and relevant benchmarks to support expert opinions and conclusions.
  • Prepare detailed expert reports, written opinions, and supporting analyses in accordance with arbitration requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with legal teams and other stakeholders to develop clear, evidence-based expert testimony.
  • Provide oral testimony and participate in hearings, depositions, or expert discussions as required.
  • Explain complex medical device market, regulatory, and commercial considerations in a clear and accessible manner for legal and non-industry audiences.
  • Maintain independence, objectivity, and confidentiality throughout the engagement.
  • Stay informed on European medical device regulations, reimbursement environments, market access considerations, and evolving industry trends relevant to the matter.

Key Requirements:

  • Extensive experience within the European medical devices industry, gained through roles such as commercial strategy, market analysis, business development, consulting, or industry leadership.
  • Strong understanding of medical device regulatory frameworks and market dynamics across Europe.
  • Previous experience acting as an expert witness or providing expert advisory services in litigation or international arbitration.
