Commercial Assistant – Manufacturing
We are seeking an organised and detail-focused Commercial Assistant to support sales and contracts within a busy engineering manufacturing environment.
Position: Commercial Assistant
Salary: £28,000–£30,000 depending on experience
Location: Leicester
Hours: Monday–Thursday 8.15am–5.00pm; Friday 8.15am–1.00pm
Closing date: CVs will be reviewed on a rolling basis
Start: Immediately available or short notice preferred
About the role
This is a varied Commercial Assistant position supporting the sales and contracts teams with the accurate processing and administration of customer orders, from initial receipt through to delivery and invoicing.
Working closely with sales, contracts, engineering and production, you will ensure orders are processed accurately, customer requirements are clearly documented and potential issues are identified early.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing customer orders and ensuring all information is complete and accurate
- Entering, checking and processing orders using the ERP system
- Processing order amendments and highlighting changes affecting price, delivery or scope
- Coordinating customer drawings and technical documentation with engineering
- Liaising with production regarding lead times and potential delivery risks
- Communicating with UK and international customers and distributors regarding orders
- Producing invoices at agreed contractual milestones and assisting with payment follow-up
- Maintaining accurate order records and providing administrative support to the wider commercial team

About you
You will be highly organised, accurate and comfortable working in a role where attention to detail is essential. You'll have good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, alongside confident written and verbal communication skills.
Ideally, you will have previous experience within commercial administration, sales order processing, contracts administration or customer service, preferably within an engineering or manufacturing environment. Experience using an ERP system would be particularly useful.

About the organisation
You will be joining an established engineering manufacturer supplying specialist products to customers across the UK and internationally.
Working across sectors including power generation and distribution, industrial automation, marine, telecoms and rail, the organisation offers an interesting technical environment where no two customer requirements are necessarily the same.
This is a great opportunity to join a collaborative team and play an important part in ensuring customer orders progress smoothly from order through to delivery.
