Company Description

The Commercial Hive is a community-driven platform that supports aspiring commercial lawyers in developing, demonstrating, and evidencing commercial judgement. The platform emphasises active participation through commercial news, practical challenges, discussion, and analysis that help future lawyers think critically about business issues shaping the legal profession. Members can publish commercial analyses, take part in structured debates, and build a visible professional portfolio valued by law firms. The Commercial Hive aims to bridge the gap between ambition and opportunity by providing a space to learn, contribute, and showcase commercial thinking. Its philosophy is captured in three principles: Think, Contribute, Grow.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Description: The Commercial Hive is a new platform helping aspiring commercial lawyers develop commercial judgement, not just read about it. We're looking for our first contributors: law, SQE, LPC and GDL students (or recent graduates) who want to write, and build a real portfolio while doing it.

What you'd be doing

  • Writing short commercial breakdowns — taking a real deal or piece of commercial news and explaining why it matters commercially, why it matters legally, and how a student could use it in an interview. You pick the topics and the pace; this is genuinely flexible.

What you get out of it

  • A published, public portfolio you can put directly on your CV and speak to in interviews
  • Earn badges and rankings i.e. 'weekly contributor' through active contributions that you can put directly into your CV when applying for vacations schemes / training contract to evidence your commercial awareness
  • Byline credit on every piece, plus a contributor profile that's built to be recruiter-facing
  • Real editorial feedback from our review process before anything goes live
  • Early involvement in something being built from the ground up — not just another blog
