Role Overview
We are looking for a driven Commercial business partner to play a central role in improving profitability, cash generation and long-term value across a product-led, manufacturing environment.
Working closely with senior leaders, operational teams and commercial stakeholders, you will use financial and operational insight to shape decisions around product performance, pricing, margin, cost base, inventory, investment and resource allocation. This is a highly visible role for someone who understands how a product-based business makes money and can turn performance data into practical action.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a robust and commercially meaningful view of P&L performance, ensuring revenue, cost of sales, manufacturing overheads, margins and operating costs are consistent and clearly understood
- Partner with senior leaders across commercial, operations, supply chain and manufacturing to improve business performance and support profitable growth
- Turn financial, operational and product performance data into clear recommendations that improve sales, margin, cash flow and return on investment
- Drive balance sheet performance, with focus on inventory, stock provisions, debtor days, creditor days, working capital, cash conversion and capital deployment
- Analyse product, customer, channel and market profitability, identifying opportunities to improve mix, pricing, contribution and margin
- Support and challenge pricing decisions, promotions, discounts, product launches, range reviews and commercial agreements
- Identify and help deliver cost-saving, productivity and efficiency initiatives across manufacturing, procurement, supply chain and operational teams
- Review capital investment proposals, new product business cases and growth initiatives, assessing payback, return, risk, operational feasibility and cash impact
- Work with supply chain and operational teams to improve stock management, reduce slow-moving or obsolete inventory and strengthen forecasting
- Challenge business plans, budgets and performance trends, ensuring stakeholders understand the actions needed to deliver sales, profit and cash targets
- Track the delivery and financial benefit of commercial and operational initiatives, ensuring accountability for results
- Act as a trusted commercial advisor across the business and support strategic projects as required

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
