Astute’s Power Team is partnered with a market-leading EPC company within the Energy from Waste (EfW) Power sector to recruit for a Commercial Contract Manager for their new-build EfW Power Station in Essex.

The vital Commercial Contract Manager position will pay c.£90,000 + £6,600 car allowance + 5% bonus + private medical + benefits. This will be a fixed-term-contract until June 2027 with a view to move onto another project.

Responsibilities And Duties

Reporting to the Project Director, you will be responsible for:

  • Taking overall lead of all commercial activities on site and making sure this is up to date
  • Minimising commercial risks on the construction site
  • Taking responsibility for claim management for site works and prepare necessary documentation, assess risks as well as incoming and outgoing potential claims
  • Document all site related commercial aspects of changes. Deviations or claims in PIRS in close cooperation with the technical, project and procurement staff
  • Ensure necessary contractual correspondence is put in place to protect the company’s contractual position
  • Confirm site contractors’ compliance with insurance and securities provisions
  • Support the Project Director and Contract Manager in client related commercial issues and make them aware of site issues which may have an impact on the contract with the client

Professional qualifications

We Are Looking For Someone With The Following

  • Qualified Quantity Surveyor (ideally degree qualified) with several years’ experience

Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge

The Commercial Contract Manager role would suit someone who has:

  • Prior experience in construction of process plants such as Power (EfW, Biomass, CCGT etc), Chemicals, etc
  • Excellent knowledge of standard and bespoke forms of contract (ideally NEC or FIDIC)
  • Familiar with QHSE legal requirements
