Commercial Copywriter

Location: Dundee, Aberdeen, Glasgow or London (Hybrid)

Full Time | Permanent

At DC Thomson, we've been telling stories, building communities and creating trusted brands for more than 120 years.

Today, our portfolio includes some of the UK's most recognised and loved brands, including The Beano, The Courier, The Press and Journal, Evening Express, The People's Friend, My Weekly, Bunkered and Stylist.

Behind those brands sits our Commercial Studio team, helping businesses connect with audiences through creative storytelling, branded content and commercial campaigns that deliver real results.

We're looking for a talented Commercial Copywriter to join that team.

This is an opportunity for a skilled writer who understands how to turn a brief into engaging content that delivers for both audiences and clients. You'll create compelling stories across print and digital platforms, working closely with commercial, creative and digital colleagues to produce content that is engaging, effective and aligned to campaign objectives.

Whether you're crafting a digital article optimised for search, developing content for a print campaign, or helping shape a wider multi-platform proposition, you'll play a key role in bringing commercial stories to life.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Creating high-quality branded content across print, digital and emerging formats
  • Turning client briefs into compelling, audience-focused stories
  • Producing SEO-optimised digital content that increases visibility, engagement and performance
  • Writing and editing content that is accurate, engaging and aligned to brand standards
  • Managing multiple projects and deadlines across a varied campaign portfolio
  • Working closely with sales, design, ad operations and commercial colleagues to deliver integrated solutions
  • Using analytics and performance insights to continuously improve content effectiveness
  • Ensuring all print copy is delivered accurately and on time to fixed production deadlines

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
