Commercial Lawyer
SSQ is partnering with a leading global professional services firm to recruit a 2+PQE Commercial Lawyer to join its growing legal team in Bristol. The role would suit a commercially minded lawyer with strong general commercial experience, whether coming from private practice or an in-house environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a high-energy, generalist commercial lawyer looking to take on significant responsibility within a collaborative and non-hierarchical team. You will manage your own portfolio of work and work directly with key stakeholders across the business, as well as external clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements.
- Advise on and negotiate partnership agreements with clients, ranging from amendments to standard terms through to bespoke agreements drafted from scratch.
- Work on engagement letters, master services agreements and bespoke framework agreements.
- Advise on complex, multi-jurisdictional commercial matters.
- Manage a portfolio of your own work, taking ownership of matters from instruction through to completion.
- Work closely with key internal and external stakeholders to provide practical and commercially focused legal advice.
- Collaborate closely with Risk and other internal teams.
- Gain exposure to a broad range of clients, particularly across the financial services and public sectors.
- Support work involving technology and fintech start-ups.

Candidate Requirements

- Qualified lawyer with approximately 2+ years' PQE.
- Strong general commercial contracts experience.
- Experience gained in private practice and/or in-house.
- Demonstrable experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Experience with partnership agreements, engagement letters, MSAs and/or bespoke framework agreements would be advantageous.
- Comfortable working independently and managing a portfolio of matters.
- Commercially minded, high-energy and able to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Bristol-based or able to commute to Bristol, with the expectation of working in the office approximately one to two days per week.
