Commercial Data & AI Readiness Lead
Waterloo - Hybrid Working
12 Month FTC
Full Time
Grade 5
At Currys we’re united by one passion: to help everyone enjoy amazing technology. As the UK’s best-known retailer of tech, we’re proud of the service our customers receive – and it’s all down to our team of 25,000 caring and committed colleagues. Working as one team, we learn and grow together, celebrating the big and small moments that make every day amazing.
The Commercial function's data is currently fragmented, which limits its ability to adopt AI and slows confident, optimal decision-making. This 12 month fixed-term role exists to deliver the foundational data work that changes what auditing what exists today, then defining and specifying the priority commercial datasets so our AI squads can build them into the company's data platform (Azure Databricks).
Role overview:
As part of this role, you'll be responsible for:
- Conduct a full audit of all commercial data sources currently in use across the business
- Identify reporting gaps, inconsistencies, and duplicated or localised reporting practices
- Engage stakeholders across Commercial, Finance, and Group Data to capture priorities and requirements
- Agree exact, consistent data points required across the business
- Own the definitions and arbitrate decisions through the build, unblock issues, and check each delivered dataset against its specification
- Create a full specification for the commercial reporting suite
- Produce high-level dashboard requirements to guide future build
- Create a phased, actionable AI roadmap aligned to the wider Commercial Transformation programme
- Work closely with Commercial, Finance, and Group Data teams to ensure alignment and buy-in
- Maintain clear boundaries of scope — this role is not responsible for building data pipelines, reporting suites or deploying AI tools, but for laying the groundwork that enables them

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
