About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Solicitor to join our Commercial Team, based at our Cambridge office.
We are looking for an experienced Commercial, Data Protection and/or Intellectual Property lawyer with a strong track record of winning and developing client relationships, generating new business opportunities, and building a market presence to join us at a Director or Partner level. The successful candidate will be responsible for growing and strengthening our offering in the Cambridge market, developing networks across the local business community, and establishing themselves as a trusted adviser to clients on a broad range of commercial, technology, data protection and IP matters. They will play a key role in driving practice growth, supporting cross-selling opportunities, and contributing to the firm's wider strategic objectives.
Some of your duties will include:
- Develop and grow the Commercial, Data Protection and Intellectual Property practice in Cambridge, identifying and securing new business opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, intermediaries, referrers and key stakeholders to generate sustainable revenue growth.
- Establish and enhance the firm's profile within the Cambridge market through networking, thought leadership, speaking engagements and participation in business community events.
- Lead on complex commercial contracts, technology agreements, data protection matters and intellectual property issues, providing pragmatic, commercial advice to clients.
- Develop sector expertise and identify opportunities to strengthen the firm's presence in key growth markets.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the firm to identify and maximise cross-selling opportunities.
- Lead, coach and mentor junior lawyers and support the development of the wider team
- Ensuring compliance with all file management processes, including those related to file audits
- Working as a team with colleagues in promoting the interests of Howes Percival and in undertaking their role
- Complying with all legislative and regulatory requirements
- Developing litigation strategies
- Updating and consulting with Senior Associates and Partners
- Managing client cases from start to finish

About You
Ability to deal with straightforward transactions, including unfamiliar tasks which present a range of problems
Acceptable standard achieved routinely
Uses own judgement but may need supervision at differing levels of transaction
Identifies the legal principles relevant to the area of practice and applies them appropriately
Uses experience to check the information provided.
