I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

See breakdownIt searches the market for you
Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
You won't necessarily have everyone reporting into you.
Your ability to create clarity, build conviction and mobilise people across the organisation will be just as important as formal line management.
You could come from:
- GM / Business Unit Leadership / Commercial / Product / Strategy & Transformation / Ecommerce / Marketplace / Founder
The common denominator is commercial ownership.
I'm looking for people who can demonstrate:
- You've owned a meaningful commercial outcome — revenue, profit, retention, frequency, LTV, GMV etc.
- You can confidently talk P&L, investment cases and commercial trade-offs
- You've worked across Product, Technology, Data and Commercial functions
- You've led complex initiatives without relying on organisational hierarchy
- You use customer insight, experimentation and data to drive decisions
- You've built or transformed a customer-facing digital proposition
- You're comfortable operating at both strategic and executional level

Experience in high-volume B2C digital products, ecommerce or marketplaces would be a strong advantage, but it's not essential.
I'm more interested in what you've owned and the commercial impact you've created than whether you've worked in a particular industry.
The business is around ÂŁ350m revenue, and you'll be taking ownership of an area that represents a genuinely significant part of the overall business.
📍 London preferred | Manchester considered with 1 day per week in the office
If you're currently operating at Director / VP / GM level and want genuine ownership of a major customer and commercial opportunity, I'd be keen to have a confidential conversation.
