Commercial Director – Veterinary Supplies – Hybrid/Stoke Head Office
Our client is the market leader in veterinary wholesaling and distribution. Since 1989 they have distributed products to animal health practices and approved outlets across the UK. Their stock includes more than 12,000 products, including pharmaceuticals, instrumentation, pet products and accessories.
They are committed to delivering a positive difference to animal health through high quality services and products.
This role will lead and deliver a clear, integrated commercial strategy across the organisation and is pivotal in shaping and executing the Group’s commercial direction, driving sustainable margin growth, strengthening customer value, and ensuring alignment across all business units. The role holder will combine strategic leadership with disciplined execution, taking full accountability for commercial performance, while fostering a strong, collaborative culture across the Group.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead a cohesive, group-wide commercial strategy aligned across wholesale, laboratories, PMS, own brands, and logistics services.
- Drive new business growth.
- Partner closely with business unit leaders to co-create tailored commercial strategies aligned to market dynamics.
- Own the delivery of margin improvement and commercial performance across the Group.
- Identify and execute opportunities for commercial innovation and new revenue streams.

Customer Solutions
- Lead the development of joined-up, end-to-end customer solutions across:
- Wholesale distribution
- Diagnostic laboratories
- Practice management systems (PMS)
- Own-brand products
- Logistics services
Team Leadership
- Lead a high-performing, results-driven multi-functional team, including:
- Sales
- Marketing
- Customer Excellence
- Commercial functions
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in a senior commercial leadership role, ideally within a multi business or multi-channel environment.
- Strong track record of:
- Developing and delivering commercial strategy at scale
- Driving margin improvement and sustainable revenue growth
- Building and leading high-performing, accountable teams
- Deep expertise in pricing strategy and governance, with a proven ability to design and implement frameworks that drive margin improvement while maintaining competitiveness and customer value perception.
- Strong stakeholder management, with the ability to influence at senior levels across the organisation.
- Ability to operate effectively at both strategic and operational levels.
- Collaborative and inclusive leadership style.
- Strategic thinker, able to prioritise and focus on what drives the greatest impact.
- A relevant degree, such as business administration, finance, economics, or a related field is desirable.
