Job Purpose
The Commercial Director is responsible for leading the commercial strategy, governance and performance of Dalkia Scotland's performance.
The role will provide leadership across commercial, procurement and contract management functions, ensuring commercial risk is effectively managed while supporting sustainable growth and profitability.
Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities
Commercial Leadership
- Develop and implement the business unit commercial strategy.
- Provide leadership and direction to commercial teams across multiple contracts and projects.
- Ensure effective commercial governance and compliance.
- Drive best practice commercial management throughout the contract lifecycle.
Contract Management
- Lead complex contract negotiations and commercial reviews.
- Ensure robust contract administration and change control processes.
- Manage contractual risk and opportunities.
- Support dispute avoidance and resolution activities.

Financial Performance
- Support achievement of business revenue, margin and profitability targets.
- Oversee forecasting, cash flow management and commercial reporting.
- Review financial performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Drive commercial performance across existing contracts.
Business Growth
- Support bid, tender and procurement activities.
- Lead commercial input into strategic business opportunities.
- Participate in acquisition, partnership and growth initiatives.
- Develop innovative commercial approaches to support client requirements.
Risk & Governance
- Maintain robust commercial controls and procedures.
- Lead risk identification and mitigation activities.
- Ensure compliance with contractual, legal and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with operational teams to balance risk and reward.
Leadership
- Lead, mentor and develop the commercial team.
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Drive high performance and employee engagement.
Person Specification
Essential
- Significant senior commercial leadership experience.
- Strong background within Facilities Management, Engineering Services, Construction or Infrastructure sectors.
- Extensive contract management and negotiation experience.
- Proven experience managing commercial teams and delivering business growth.
- Strong understanding of NEC, JCT, PFI and bespoke contract forms.
- Demonstrable financial acumen and commercial decision-making capability.
- Experience managing complex risk and opportunity portfolios.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.

Desirable
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Law, Engineering or related discipline.
- MRICS, MCICES or equivalent professional accreditation.
- Experience within Construction, FM or Engineering Technical services.
- MBA or advanced business qualification.
