Commercial Director – Help shape the future of water in the East of England

Location: Peterborough / Hybrid

What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop and deliver the Alliance's commercial strategy, ensuring commercial performance consistently exceeds expectations.
  • Lead the commercial, estimating and contract management functions, building a high performing, collaborative and values led team.
  • Provide strategic commercial advice to the Executive Leadership Team and Board, supporting key business decisions.
  • Establish robust commercial governance, assurance and reporting frameworks.
  • Lead contract management across complex NEC based programmes, ensuring effective management of risk, change, claims and contractual obligations.
  • Drive commercial performance through effective cost management, forecasting, value engineering and financial controls.
  • Build exceptional relationships with Anglian Water, Alliance partners and the wider supply chain to deliver better outcomes together.
  • Lead the development of resilient, sustainable and high performing supply chain strategies.
  • Champion innovation, digital commercial practices and continuous improvement across the commercial function.
  • Foster an inclusive culture where people can thrive, develop and perform at their best.

What you’ll bring:

  • Significant senior commercial leadership experience delivering major infrastructure programmes valued at hundreds of millions of pounds or more.
  • A proven track record of leading commercial strategy within complex engineering, utilities, infrastructure or construction environments.
  • Extensive experience of NEC contracts and commercial management across large capital programmes.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement, contract administration, commercial governance and risk management.
  • Experience operating within regulated environments and delivering successful commercial outcomes through collaborative delivery models.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at Executive, Board and partner level.
  • A degree (or equivalent experience) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Finance, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Professional membership with a recognised institution such as RICS, CIOB or CICES (or equivalent).
