Our client is widely recognised as a specialist market leader in their Food Production sector. As a mid-tier, progressive and ambitious family company, they have carved out a successful niche as a supplier of choice. Due to ongoing expansion, a superb opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Director to play a key role in the current and future growth and success of the business.

OVERVIEW

As Commercial Director, you will have total strategic and operational accountability for the top-line growth, profitability, and market share of the company across the island of Ireland and the UK. You will act as the principal commercial face and driver of the business, owning senior relationships with Tier-1 supermarket multiples while directly controlling the strategic procurement programs from a wide network of third-party growers to ensure a flawless, year-round, high-margin supply chain.

SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contract Management & Supermarket Relationship Management
  • P&L Ownership & Commercial Strategy
  • Match Commercial Demand with Agricultural Supply
  • Procurement and Grower Relationship Management
  • Leadership & Team Mentorship
  • Drive Innovation and NPD (New Product Development)

THE PERSON

  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ operating in a senior commercial leadership role (Commercial Director, Head of Commercial, or Senior Commercial Manager) within Food Manufacturing, FMCG, or Fresh Produce.
  • Proven track record of personally managing multi-million-pound contracts with major Irish/UK grocery multiples
  • Proven experience handling complex Cost Price Increase (CPI) negotiations successfully.
  • Established personal networks with UK and Island of Ireland based produce category buyers.
  • Advanced P&L literacy, cost-to-serve modelling, and deep understanding of yield metrics.
  • Flexibility for regular cross-border/ UK & European travel to retail HQs and external suppliers and growers.

SALARY

An attractive, market competitive salary based will be on offer to the successful candidate. The base salary is negotiable and will depend on experience and what the person can bring to the role. In addition, there will be an opportunity to earn a regular yearly performance bonus.
