A rapidly expanding manufacturing company on the outskirts of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk are currently recruiting for a Commercial Director to join its leadership team.
This is a permanent role, paying between £75,000 - £85,000, depending on experience.
Overview Of The Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take overall responsibility for the commercial and sales function, leading a sales teams.
The role will focus on developing and delivering the company's commercial strategy, driving sales growth and profitability & securing significant new business and high-value contracts. You will also work closely with the wider leadership team to support the company's continued growth and development.
What does the role involve?
- As a Commercial Director, you will be responsible for sales strategies and executing them to a high standard
- Driving performance throughout the company and specifically within the sales team
- Take responsibility for the profit and loss of the sales department
- Oversee sales budgets, forecasting and commercial performance
- Work closely with production, estimating and other internal departments to ensure customer orders are delivered effectively and in line with production capacity
- Leading, mentoring and managing the sales team to perform to the best of their ability
- Work closely with the leadership team in the business to help with strategic business decisions
- Look at continuous improvement methods across the commercial function
- Running regular sales meetings with the team to monitor performance and drive growth where possible
- Representing the company at Industry events and trade shows across the UK

Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior commercial or sales leadership role
- Strong people management and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team
- Accomplished in securing and closing large, high-value and multi-million-pound contracts
- Background within a manufacturing environment is required
- Commercially astute, with a strong strategic and analytical mindset
- High attention to detail, focused on delivering strong results
- Ability to build and maintain customer relationships
- Excellent negotiation, communication and relationship-building skills
