Commercial Director

Warrington
Up to £120,000 + Car Allowance + Package

Commercial leadership can mean very different things depending on the business.

In some organisations, it's about maintaining established processes and operating within structures that have been in place for years. In others, it's about helping shape how the business grows, building capability within teams, improving governance and influencing decisions that directly impact future performance.

This opportunity sits firmly in the second category.

Our client is a growing residential construction contractor delivering a portfolio of high-rise, multi-family and mixed-tenure developments across the UK. With projects secured, further opportunities entering pre-construction and a clear long-term ambition for growth, the business is looking to strengthen its senior leadership team with a Commercial Director who can help shape both the function and the wider operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the commercial strategy across a portfolio of high-rise residential, multi-family and mixed-tenure developments
  • Provide leadership, support and direction to Commercial Managers, Senior Quantity Surveyors and Quantity Surveyors
  • Review and challenge project cost plans, forecasts, CVRs, cashflow and commercial reporting
  • Drive commercial performance, margin improvement and effective risk management across all projects
  • Work closely with Pre-Construction and Estimating teams throughout tender, negotiation and procurement stages
  • Oversee major subcontract procurement, supply chain strategy and commercial approvals
  • Ensure robust governance, reporting procedures and commercial controls are maintained across all projects
  • Lead contractual negotiations and provide guidance on commercial risk, claims and final accounts
  • Support the wider leadership team with business planning, forecasting and strategic decision-making
  • Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, housing associations, investors and delivery partners
  • Drive continuous improvement across commercial processes, systems and ways of working
  • Support the development and growth of the commercial team through mentoring, coaching and succession planning

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
