We're looking for an exceptional Commercial Director - Transport to join our senior leadership team, reporting directly to the Business Development Director. This is a high-profile role with responsibility for driving growth across the transportation sector, sitting alongside our strategic market leaders in areas such as Nuclear, Energy and Major Infrastructure.
This is an opportunity to influence some of the UK's biggest infrastructure developments, from major road and rail programmes to airport expansion projects, port developments and the infrastructure required to support the transition to renewable energy.
The Opportunity
The transportation sector represents a significant growth market for Tarmac. You'll lead the development and execution of our commercial strategy across road, rail, airports and ports, identifying opportunities long before they reach procurement and positioning Tarmac as the partner of choice.
You'll play a pivotal role in securing long-term growth for the business and success in this role will be built on your ability to develop trusted relationships with key stakeholders across the sector, including major contractors, consultants and delivery partners.

What You'll Be Doing
- Developing and executing Tarmac's transport sector growth strategy aligned to our wider commercial ambitions.
- Identifying major project opportunities at the earliest stages and creating winning pursuit strategies.
- Building influential relationships with customers, principal contractors, developers, framework providers and industry stakeholders.
- Securing opportunities for the supply of aggregates, asphalt, concrete and integrated materials solutions across major transportation projects.
- Driving early contractor engagement and helping shape project requirements before tender stage.
- Developing strategic partnerships and collaborative approaches that create long-term value for customers and Tarmac.
- Championing innovation and sustainability solutions that differentiate Tarmac in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
- Working closely with operational, technical and commercial teams to ensure we bring the full capability of Tarmac and CRH to every opportunity.
- Identifying opportunities linked to decarbonisation, low-carbon construction and emerging infrastructure trends.
About You
You'll be a commercially driven leader with a proven track record of winning and growing business within infrastructure, construction, engineering, transport or related sectors.

You Will Bring
- Experience developing high-value strategic customer relationships at executive level.
- An excellent understanding of major infrastructure and capital project delivery environments.
- A track record of influencing opportunities from concept through to contract award.
- Exceptional business development, stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
- Strategic thinking combined with the ability to translate plans into commercial results.
- A passion for innovation, collaboration and sustainable growth.
- The credibility to operate confidently with senior customers, industry bodies and internal stakeholders across Tarmac and CRH.
