Shape the future of the UK's largest transport infrastructure projects.
What if your next role could influence the delivery of major road, rail, airport and port developments across the UK?
At Tarmac, we're helping build the infrastructure that keeps the country moving. From nationally significant transport programmes to the projects supporting the transition to a lower-carbon future, we're looking for a commercially driven leader to help shape what's next.
We're seeking an experienced Commercial Director - Transport to join our senior leadership team, reporting directly to the Business Development Director. This is a highly strategic role with responsibility for driving growth across the transportation sector, working alongside our market leaders in Nuclear, Energy and Major Infrastructure.
Why this role?
This is more than business development.
You'll be at the forefront of identifying and influencing major infrastructure opportunities long before they reach procurement, building relationships at the highest levels and positioning Tarmac as the partner of choice for some of the UK's most transformative projects.
From road and rail schemes to airport expansion, port development and renewable energy infrastructure, you'll play a key role in securing long-term growth and shaping the future of UK transport.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
