An exciting senior leadership opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Director to join a leading infrastructure contractor working on a major, long-term infrastructure programme in Kent.

This role will provide strategic commercial leadership across a significant project environment, working closely with senior project, operational and business leadership.

The Role

As Commercial Director, you will take overall responsibility for the commercial strategy and performance of the project.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing strategic commercial leadership across the project
  • Leading and developing the commercial team
  • Establishing and implementing commercial strategy
  • Maintaining overall control of project financial performance
  • Overseeing forecasting, CVRs and cost-to-complete reporting
  • Managing commercial risk and opportunities
  • Leading major procurement and subcontract negotiations
  • Providing senior-level contract and commercial advice
  • Managing change, variations and commercial negotiations
  • Supporting dispute avoidance and resolution
  • Maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships
  • Ensuring robust commercial governance across the project
  • Working closely with the Project Director and senior leadership team
  • Supporting wider business objectives and commercial strategy

About You

The successful candidate will be an experienced senior commercial professional with:

  • Significant experience operating at Commercial Director / Senior Commercial Manager level
  • A strong background in civil engineering, infrastructure or major construction
  • Experience leading sizeable commercial teams
  • Strong NEC and contract management experience
  • Proven experience managing complex, high-value projects
  • Strong commercial strategy and financial management capability
  • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience working closely with Project Directors and senior leadership
