Hybrid Opportunity
We have offices based in London, Manchester, and Peterborough.
Role Overview and Purpose
To deliver the commercial strategy and growth plans for Van, Bike, and Classic Car within Markerstudy Insurance Group and play an integral part in the successful delivery of the broader business strategy by being a key member of the Executive team and by working with Insurer partners and key third-party product providers to ensure the best outcomes for Markerstudy Insurance Group and its customers.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and deliver the Van, Bike, and Classic Car Insurance commercial strategy, aligned to Group objectives and growth ambitions.
- Lead the achievement of profitable growth, market share, customer retention, and portfolio performance targets across both product lines.
- Translate strategic objectives into clear commercial plans, KPIs, and operational priorities.
- Identify market opportunities, consumer trends, and competitive threats, ensuring appropriate strategic responses.
Commercial Performance & Financial Management
- Own and be accountable for the P&L performance of the Van, Bike, and Classic Car portfolios.
- Deliver revenue, profit, retention, and growth targets through effective commercial management and portfolio optimization.
- Lead commercial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and performance management activities.
Product & Proposition Development
- Oversee the development, enhancement, and lifecycle management of Van, Bike & Classic Car Insurance products and propositions.
- Ensure products remain competitive, sustainable, customer-focused, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Lead go-to-market strategies for new products, product enhancements, and proposition initiatives.
- Drive innovation and proposition differentiation to strengthen market position and customer value.

Distribution & Partnership Management
- Identify and support commercial partnership opportunities that support growth and customer acquisition objectives.
Operational Leadership & Transformation
- Drive commercial change initiatives and transformation programs that improve customer experience, efficiency, and business performance.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure all commercial activities comply with FCA requirements, Consumer Duty obligations, and internal governance frameworks.
- Maintain oversight of commercial risks, including pricing adequacy, conduct risk, channel performance, and reputational considerations.
Leadership & People Management
- Lead, coach, and develop high-performing commercial teams, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Support the respective product owners in their development.
Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with executive stakeholders, insurers, capacity providers, distribution partners, and suppliers.
- Represent the Van, Bike & Classic Car businesses in internal and external forums.
- Provide thought leadership on market developments, customer trends, and portfolio performance to support long-term business success.

Qualification and Experience
Strategic & Commercial Acumen
- Ability to craft and execute commercial strategies that drive growth and profitability in Van, Bike & Classic Car insurance.
- Strong understanding of P&L, pricing models, loss ratios, and cost management.
- Skilled in identifying and securing new opportunities, partnerships, and distribution channels.
Insurance Industry Expertise
- Deep understanding of the UK motor insurance market, claims processes, underwriting, and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with FCA regulations, consumer duty, and compliance frameworks.
- Ability to assess and mitigate commercial risks, including pricing adequacy and market volatility.
Customer & Market Insight
- Ability to translate customer needs into compelling propositions and experiences.
- Proficient in using analytics, market intelligence, and performance data to inform strategy.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Experience in leading and developing high-performing commercial teams.
Operational Excellence
- Skilled in setting KPIs, tracking performance, and driving continuous improvement.
- Experienced in managing commercial agreements, SLAs, and negotiations.
