This is a pivotal executive leadership role where you'll shape the future direction of the business, driving online revenue, improving customer acquisition and maximising profitability across all commercial channels.
This is more than a traditional Commercial Director position. We're looking for a leader who understands the fast-paced Ecommerce landscape, thrives on using customer insight and commercial data to influence decision-making, and has a proven track record of delivering exceptional online growth.
Leading the Sales, Marketing, Ecommerce and Digital teams, you will ensure every commercial function works collaboratively to deliver an outstanding customer experience and achieve ambitious growth targets.
Key Responsibilities

- Drive sustainable revenue growth while maximising profitability across all online and offline commercial channels.
- Lead the Sales, Marketing, Ecommerce and Digital teams, creating a collaborative, high-performing commercial function.
- Take ownership of the online trading strategy, continually improving website performance, customer acquisition, conversion rates and customer lifetime value.
- Use customer insight, market intelligence and commercial analytics to influence strategic business decisions.
- Optimise pricing strategies, promotional activity, product mix and merchandising to maximise sales performance.
- Improve the online customer journey, identifying opportunities to increase engagement, conversion and retention.
- Work closely with Marketing and Digital teams to maximise ROI across paid media, CRM, SEO and other digital channels.
- Drive growth within the trade division by developing strategic commercial partnerships.
- Monitor Ecommerce performance through key trading metrics including revenue, traffic, conversion, average order value and profitability.
- Take full ownership of commercial budgets, forecasting and P&L performance.
- Build, coach and develop high-performing teams, creating a culture of accountability, innovation and continuous improvement.
- Continually review commercial structures and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and business performance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
