Commercial Energy and Carbon Consultant at Green Team Consulting

Green Team Consulting was set up in 2016, and work with large I&C in logistics, manufacturing, insurance and healthcare etc.

We do ESOS, SECR, TCFD type reporting, carbon foot printing and Carbon Reduction Plans plus much more and we are growing rapidly...

What the job involves

You'd be going out to client sites, offices, warehouses, distribution centres and factories, and doing the audit. Recording the plant, the lighting, the HVAC, compressed air, process loads. Then working out where the savings are and what they're worth, with proper costs and paybacks.

ESOS reports get reviewed and signed off by a registered Lead Assessor, so you don't need that registration yourself, and you will be working directly for and alongside them.

The other half is carbon reporting. Pulling client energy data together, checking it, calculating emissions using the government conversion factors and the GHG Protocol, and producing SECR reports that go into their statutory accounts. Some clients also need climate-related financial disclosure work, TCFD aligned.

For the first few months we'd review your work before it goes out. After that you'd take on your own clients, as this is technical delivery.

What we need from you

You have to be comfortable on a commercial or industrial site. If you've only done domestic EPCs, this won't suit you.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You need to understand Scope 1, 2 and 3 and how they apply to SECR. We're not after a carbon accounting specialist, but you need to know the framework.

NDEA Level 4 ideally, or working towards it, or the equivalent experience without the badge. If you're at Level 3 and want to move up, get in touch anyway.

You need to be accurate. These reports go into statutory accounts and get looked at by auditors. We'd rather have it right than fast.

Decent Excel.

Writing that a client can actually follow.

Full driving licence and a car with business insurance.

And you need to be able to work from home without anyone chasing you.

Useful but not essential: ESOS experience, SECR or carbon footprinting, Scope 3 work, analysing half-hourly consumption data to find waste, ISO 50001, membership of the EI, IEMA or CIBSE.

What we'll do for you

We'll pay for the qualifications. NDEA Level 4 if you don't have it, professional membership, and anything else that makes you better at the job, and If you want to become an ESOS Lead Assessor, we'll support it.

That means paying for it and, more to the point, making sure you get the audit experience and portfolio evidence the registers want. It takes a few years and we won't pretend otherwise, but it's a route we want someone here to take.
