An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Commercial team at Portsmouth Football Club as Commercial Executive to lead on Hospitality.
The Commercial Executive's role focuses on matchday hospitality sales and delivery. The role will also include responsibilities across other Commercial areas including Sponsorship Sales and Sponsorship Rights Delivery.
The successful candidate will:
- Lead the Club’s Match Day hospitality sales activities.
- Support the Head of Corporate Sales by identifying and delivering new and match day hospitality clients and other partnership opportunities.
- Maximise the Club’s commercial revenue through Sponsorship and Hospitality sales and administration.
We are looking for a team-player who has a strong customer-focused approach, with an understanding and working knowledge of hospitality sales.
The successful candidate will be a proactive individual who values client relationships as well as new business acquisition. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must for this role. Ideally the individual will have prior experience within hospitality sales and client management and must be flexible and willing to work irregular working patterns typical of a professional football club.

Reports To: Head of Corporate Sales
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: Full-time, 5 days per week, including matchdays (evenings and weekends as required)
Salary: Up to £27,500 per annum
Job Purpose
Lead Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end sales process for seasonal and matchday hospitality.
- Serve as the club’s principal contact for hospitality clients.
- Own the matchday hospitality operation.
- Collaborate with Marketing to execute new business hospitality campaigns.
- Analyse sales trends.

Shared Responsibilities
- Attend home matchdays and club events as a Commercial representative.
- Update systems and maintain accurate records of all activity.
- Support cross-functional commercial initiatives and contribute to departmental goals.
- Represent the Club professionally in all external engagements.
Key Responsibilities
Hospitality Sales and Client Management
- Sell seasonal and matchday hospitality packages across all tiers, meeting and exceeding revenue targets.
- Proactively manage and retain key client accounts, ensuring customer satisfaction and encouraging renewal and upsell opportunities.
- Support the execution of all pre-match and matchday logistics, including table plans, ticket fulfilment, client itineraries, and liaison with catering and operations teams.
- Represent the Club professionally in client-facing environments and deliver a seamless, premium guest experience.
- Support the Head of Corporate Sales with the hospitality sales calendar and pricing structure.
Rights Delivery and Activation
- Support the delivery of contractual rights and activation schedules for sponsors and partners.
- Assist with partner liaison on matchdays and event days as required.
Sponsorship and Commercial Partnerships
- Support the Head of Corporate Sales in identifying and engaging new sponsorship leads where required.
- Assist in the preparation of sponsorship proposals and presentations as needed.
Operational and Administrative Excellence
- Manage hospitality and sponsorship communications, ensuring timely responses and proactive client service.
- Maintain up-to-date commercial documentation, including invoices.
- Support post-match reconciliation processes and reporting for the Commercial and Finance departments
- Work collaboratively across Ticketing, Marketing, Events, and Operations to ensure alignment on all commercial activities.

Person Specification
1. Professional Experience
- Demonstrable success in managing B2B relationships and hospitality sales.
- Understanding of hospitality within a professional sports environment.
- Background in an EFL commercial role is desirable.
2. Skills and Knowledge
- Exceptional interpersonal and client-facing skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- High level of organisation with attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
