Commercial Finance Analyst
Northampton | £40,000 - £45,000 + Excellent Benefits
Hays Accountancy & Finance are delighted to be partnering with a well-established and growing engineering business in Northamptonshire to recruit a Commercial Finance Analyst. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional to join a successful organisation and play a key role in supporting operational and commercial decision-making.
Working closely with finance, commercial and operational teams, you will provide insightful financial analysis, help drive business performance, and ensure robust financial controls are maintained across the organisation.
The Role
As Commercial Finance Analyst, you will:
- Review subcontractor payments and timesheets to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Produce management reports and project finance packs to support decision-making.
- Analyse financial performance, identifying trends, risks and opportunities.
- Work closely with commercial teams to support cash collection activities.
- Assist with month-end processes, management accounts, VAT returns and reconciliations.
- Support supplier and subcontractor onboarding processes.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and controls.
- Assist with external audit requirements and financial reporting.
- Provide wider financial support to operational departments across the business.

About You
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA part-qualified and actively studying towards completion.
- At least two years' experience within a finance or commercial finance environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Excel and financial reporting capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence non-financial stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
