Commercial Finance Analyst

We’re looking for a Commercial Finance Analyst to support the financial planning and decision-making in our business. You’ll be responsible for data integrity and reporting across all aspects of the business, working closely with the commercial finance managers and key stakeholders within the business.

You'll be analytical (of course) and proactive, able to think outside the box, to support the business in delivering its strategic objectives. You’ll have fantastic communication skills with the ability to work in a rapidly changing environment as we grow, scale and optimize for success.

The Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and improve monthly reporting for budget holders across the business.
  • Maintain open and transparent communication with stakeholders across the business, to help cost controls and to hold budget holders to account.
  • Prepare and post month-end journals across OPEX, Direct Costs, Warehouse, and Capex.
  • Work closely with the Digital team alongside Finance Manager to manage infrastructure and marketing trackers.
  • Manage and maintain Technology department tracker and hold monthly reviews.
  • Work with Senior Commercial Finance Manager to improve Warehouse and Distribution reporting and analysis.
  • Work with the Senior Commercial Finance Manager and the Commercial Finance Manager in preparing robust budgets and forecasts.
  • Produce monthly ELT files to be reviewed by Commercial Finance Manager.
  • Consolidate monthly journal trackers and produce accrual rec.
  • Aid in variance analysis of actuals vs forecasts, including investigating why variances have occurred and communicating risks & opportunities.
  • You’ll work with BI on our reporting tool and NetSuite our financial system to develop insight reports to help the business track, understand and drive performance.

The Person:

  • Experience of working in a commercial finance function for a retail business. A working understanding of different business models (wholesale, distributor, B2C) would be a benefit but not essential.
  • Have an accounting qualification or part qualified.
  • You’ll be super-analytical, a ‘whizz’ with data and numbers and be able to use this to influence, challenge and support commercial decisions and spot new business opportunities.
  • Strong Excel Skills to facilitate reporting improvements and efficiencies.
  • You’ll be a great communicator; enjoying collaborating cross-functionally and with all levels just as much as you enjoy a good colour-coded spreadsheet.
  • Proactive, curious and focused, you’ll want to make an impact and will ask questions, pull information and bring the right people along with you.
  • Happy working in a fast-paced and changing environment.
