Can you turn financial insight into better business decisions?
Valexis Consulting has an immediate client requirement for an experienced FP&A professional who can operate well beyond traditional budgeting and reporting.
We're looking for someone who can combine strong financial analysis with commercial judgement — helping a fast-moving business understand what's driving performance, where value is being created or lost, and what management should do next.
The client has described the requirement as FP&A.
We think the right person will be more than that.
You might currently call yourself an FP&A Consultant, Commercial Finance Lead, Finance Business Partner, Strategic Finance Consultant or something similar.
What matters is your ability to turn numbers into decisions and decisions into better business performance.
What you'll do
You'll work closely with senior management and the wider Valexis team to improve financial visibility, strengthen decision-making and support the delivery of measurable business outcomes.
Depending on the engagement, that could include:
- Developing and improving forecasting, budgeting and planning processes
- Building robust financial models and management information
- Analysing revenue, margin, cost and cash performance
- Identifying the drivers behind performance — not simply reporting the variance
- Developing scenarios and business cases to support management decisions
- Establishing clear KPIs and performance-management disciplines
- Working with operational and commercial leaders to improve financial understanding and accountability
- Translating complex financial information into clear recommendations
- Supporting management and investors with concise, decision-useful reporting
- Connecting operational initiatives to their expected P&L, cash and enterprise-value impact

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What we're looking for
We're interested in people who combine strong FP&A capability with commercial curiosity and the confidence to challenge constructively.
You'll probably have experience in FP&A, commercial finance, finance business partnering, management consulting or a similarly analytical commercial role.
More importantly, you'll be someone who:
- Understands the business behind the numbers
- Can move from detail to insight quickly
- Asks why performance is changing, not simply what changed
- Builds practical models rather than unnecessarily complicated ones
- Communicates financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
- Is comfortable working with senior management
- Thrives in fast-moving environments
- Focuses on improving business outcomes rather than producing finance outputs for their own sake

Experience in PE-backed, investor-owned or high-growth businesses would be valuable, but isn't essential.
About Valexis
Valexis is a specialist value creation consultancy. We help ambitious businesses deliver growth, improve EBITDA and scale enterprise value, working particularly with PE-backed and high-growth organisations. We're analytical, commercial and hands-on.
We like good analysis. We value what management can do with it even more.
The opportunity
This is an immediate client requirement, so we're particularly interested in people available now or in the near term.
The initial opportunity is expected to be an interim consulting engagement.
At the same time, Valexis is continuing to build its wider consulting network, so we'd also like to hear from strong FP&A and commercial finance professionals who may be relevant to future engagements.
If you can turn financial information into better commercial decisions and can show us where that's created value, we'd like to hear from you.
